Factions
The various groups of interest in the world of Morveris. By default, most Ulivari are considered factionless (the people/the explorers), though all non-god, non-human factions are considered joinable. Joining a faction is not at all required, and is simply a matter of lore and flavor text.
The Gods
The four gods rule over the planes of Morveris -- their magic thrums deep within its veins, woven into the very fabric of its being, shaping every creature that inhabits its earth, sea, or sky.
The People
Everyday, ordinary Ulivari, just living their lives. Spread widely across the twin planes of Morveris, the people are as diverse as the land they inhabit. They may be farmers, scholars, engineers, thieves, merchants, artisans, bandits; they might be either devout or very loose followers of any god, or perhaps none at all, determined to make their way in life with only the latent magic of the world around them; perhaps they live alone, secluded from the rest of society and owing allegiance to no group of people, or they take after much of the society and place a high value on community! The people can be anybody, but generally describes any officially unaligned individual and serves as a catch-all for most Ulivari.
The Extra-planar Explorers
A specific extension of the people. Any Ulivari or group of Uli who've chosen to live their lives out of the pocket dimension of Morveris, or otherwise spend much of their time outside of it (for any number of reasons -- trade, exploration, something else?). By nature of the magic that exists in their world, it's common for portals to pop up that lead to and from many other dimensions and planes of existence -- as happened to Earth! And as such, it's not terribly rare for people to choose to broaden their horizons and leave home (or for non-Ulivari to choose to live on Morveris itself). There's some small degree of social stigma around permanently leaving the home world (and community as a result), but -- particularly in circles of Celanesra's followers -- many Ulivari value a life of portal-diving as a chance to explore the great unknown.
The Sunguard
The Sunguard could be regarded as the extent of hierarchical organization in conventional Ulivari society on Morveris itself, lead at the top by General Calamire, who broadly commands several Guard Captains. The Sunguard collaborate with communities across Morveris, but are largely concentrated in and around the Citadel, protecting and assisting traders and travelers alike. The guard have military training out of necessity due to the potential threat of Revenant or extra-planar incursion (as well as more mundane threats, like the beasts that roam the wilds), but largely deal in peaceful conflict resolution and generalized public safety, with their skills most often being employed in stopping fights from breaking out in public spaces, protecting unattended children from getting into trouble, or escorting people through more dangerous territories.
The Revenant / The Hollow
Lead by Anathame, formerly a high priest for the god of death. While they've named themselves something akin to revenant in mythology and folklore, those outside of the group refer to them as hollow. As they refer to themselves, revenants are those who refuse to die, extending their lives through a misused form of death domain magics. The group has no broader mission but for the carving out of a place in the world where they can be unbound by death -- out of fear, spite, or something else entirely. Love, in some cases. They're very, very often despised by normal Ulivari, as they've forsaken the natural cycle of life and death, forsaken the gods, and chosen to abandon their communities... though some in the world may care less about these lifestyle choices than others. While the treatment they get from everyday people varies to some degree, Sunguard members have been trained to attack them on sight, and largely regard them as traitors. Those who've drunken Anathame's godblood and been changed by the whims of undeath will have nowhere to turn should they wish to come back into Ulivari society -- defectors are cursed to live out the rest of their days alone, until they no longer choose to fight death, or successfully conceal their decay and blend in with their mortal kin...
The Nel-Arcanis
TBD -- (scholars and archivists headquartered in Celanesra's part of the world)
The Outlanders
Any being not native to the pocket-dimension planet of Morveris, encountered through the dimensional portals that sometimes randomly appear or are conjured to link two points in space. Humans, the most recently discovered species, are one such example of outlanders -- but there are lots of them out there!
